Throughout this semester, we have discussed rhetoric and the design of a website. I have got to learn about audience, purpose, author, genre, and context in the digital world. Globe to Globe Hamlet is a two year tour to every country in the world ran by Shakespeare's Globe. I really like the mission and idea behind their mission. I would consider their business model a one of a kind which makes this website very unique.
Clicking on the site, the website is super colorful and diverse. The most vivid aspect of the site is the cut out picture on the front page. The pictures entail people enjoying the play outlined by the country’s shape. The website’s target audience could be stretched to anyone who breathes on this earth. Stops in every country, their plays are easily accessible to millions of people across the world. Even if you are not a Shakespeare fan, you can access more information to learn more about Hamlet by pressing on the “Start exploring” which is highlighted on the bold red link. The site gives a variety of information on how to access tickets, photos of the show, and social media posts.
The purpose for the website is to bring Hamlet all around the world, hence their name Globe to Globe. They communicate their purpose by saying “An international celebration of Shakespeare at the Globe and around the world… Every year companies from all over the world come to perform on our stage.” They even have their statistics of how many countries and distance they have traveled to perform. This aspect of their website is one of my favorites because it makes me want to go and see the play.
I think the pros of this website is its contrast and text. I like how the website is vibrant and grabs the viewers attention. The text is bold and you can clearly see the words on their pages throughout the website. It is super inviting and you get what their mission is as soon as you click on the page. The cons of this website is that the organization seems to be scattered and confusing. I found myself looking for different aspects of the website and not being able to find them. I would strongly suggest renaming or changing the tabs and links they have on their existing page. I would make the site more simple and easier to access.
In closing, I think that this website is well put together but needs some work on the organization side. The website has tons of great rhetoric and design to invite the reader to support their cause. You can tell that the show they put on is entertaining and professional. Overall, I love the concept of the website and I think that it could be a huge impact on bringing people from globe to globe together.

At the beginning Coding was slightly difficult to get the hang of, but as I progressed and watched youtube videos I began to understand how HTML and CSS interact with each other. In order to make this site I used the template that was given to us during our HTML and CSS quiz. I used this template as a base and then corrected and added things as I went along. Using the analogy that things are grouped in containers made it easier to understand how things are organized and formatted when coding a website. It is important to take into account how things are ordered. For instance if you want a header before your paragraph you would put that first in your code. I also found out how important it is to make sure that you have opening and closing tags in your code. If you forget a closing tag whatever you are coding will not appear on your website.
For the Home page I used HTML and an external style sheet. However, for the other pages I used HTML and an in-line style combination. I used the website W3 Schools to help me figure out specific things that I wanted, such as how to change the font color and size. I was able to link my soundcloud account directly to the music page of my website, which I think was super cool. All I needed to do was go to the share button and they provided the code that was needed to embed the sound cloud page. This made it easy to attach my music page into my website.
The Ideal website would probably include some moving aspects and possibly some hover effects on the links that I have. I think that this could give it a more interactive feel, rather than the stationary look it has now. I think also embedding a video somewhere in my web page would provide the motion that I am looking to add to my web page. Something that I think might be helpful to add especially to my merch page would be grid-x and rows. I would have to use some foundation code to achieve this type of look, but it would organize the t shirts or new merch designs that I add in a more professional and clean way.
The modes that I tried to use were mostly Spacial awareness and the visual aspect. I used pictures and bold text to draw attention to places that I thought were important. I also centered certain things in order to organize things in an aesthetic way. The way that I spaced things also added to the aesthetics of my website. I also used similar design strategies in how I placed certain things. For example I have headings in all of my pages to let the reader know what the page is about before they read my content. I also Included pictures that were relevant to what the page was about. For instance the about me page includes a picture of myself to let the reader know who I am before reading about me.
